Obituary - Michael McMullen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael McMullen at his Las Cruces, NM, home December 30, 2024, with his loving caregiver Liz at his side.

He was born February 21, 1946 to Leonard and Vivian McMullen in Malta, Montana. Mike loved to grow a magnificent garden, fish, camp and hunt.

On October 4, 1966, he married the love of his life Meriam (Powers) McMullen.

Mike was in the Army for two years and then started a 39-year long career, beginning at the Great Northern railroad in Havre, MT, and ending in Denver, CO, with the BNSF railroad.

After his career, Mike retired so he could do carpentry projects and tend to his wonderful garden that he loved sharing with all his neighbors.

Survivors include his daughter Mardelle McMullen of Greeley, CO; sister Pat Omdahl, Belgrade, MT; brother Ray McMullen, Whitewater, MT, Sister in-law Bonnie McMullen, Whitewater, MT, his Grand-dog Oreo; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Meriam McMullen; daughter Tanya McMullen; father, Leonard McMullen; mother, Vivian McMullen; brothers Robin and Terry McMullen; sisters Wilma and Barbie Mavencamp.

A celebration of life for both Mike and his beloved wife Meriam will be held at the Malta Cemetery June 7, 2025 at 2pm. A buffet dinner at the Great Northern Hotel will follow the service.
