Obituary - Rebecca 'Becky' Chagnon

Rebecca “Becky” Chagnon, 67, passed away January 23, 2025, in Billings, Montana after an accidental fall on January 18th.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Her graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Becky’s honor may be made to a memorial of the donor’s choice.

Becky was born March 27, 1957, in Havre to William “Bill” and Patricia (Hughes) Hedges. She was raised and educated in Havre attending St. Jude School and graduating from Havre High. She married William Timothy Chagnon April 5, 1975, in Havre at the St. Jude Catholic Church. Together they made their home in Havre and raised their two children: Michelle and Chris.

Becky worked for many years at the Havre K-Mart store, retiring from there in 2018, she then went to work as a Direct Support Professional at the Havre Day Activity Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping at the mountains, holidays and celebrations. She made her grandkids cakes for all of their birthdays and they at times tested her talents. She always stayed busy with family events, work, friends, decorating cakes, gardening, or just relaxing while online shopping. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh, smart remarks and her smile.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Timothy Chagnon, who passed December 20, 2023; her parents, William and Patricia Hedges; in-laws, William and Joyce Chagnon; and brother-in-law Michael Chagnon.

Becky is survived by her two children: daughter, Michelle (Travis) Burchard, and son, Chris Chagnon; two sisters, Colleen (Ron) Watson, Janet (Kenny) Halko; three brothers, James Hedges, Tim (Tana) Hedges, and Mike (Jess) Hedges; sisters-in-law, Julie (Tom) Anderson, Debbie (Dennis Douglas) Chagnon; brothers-in-law Wayne (Ginger) Chagnon, and Scott (Linda) Chagnon; four grandchildren, Kabe, Kobi and Kyla Burchard, Coye Chagnon, and one great granddaughter, Kinsley Woods.
