Board of Trustees meet to discuss agendas

Havre Middle School Board of Trustees members met Tuesday, January 14 to talk about reports, approvals and old and new actions.

Consideration of Revised Policy 1700, Indian Policy and Procedures, Board Performance Assessment and Meeting Evaluation Tool Review were all approved.

Consideration of Revised Policy 7520, and MHSA Annual Meeting Proposals and Updates on Havre High School Activities were both approved.

Track and Field Coach Trever VanCampen presented his resignation to the Board. VanCampen’s last day was on Friday, January 17, 2024.

“I’m here tonight ... I thought it was proper for me to come in, and tell everybody that I’ve worked and worked for, thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me and my kids,” VanCampen said, “It’s been a privilege to work here. You’ve all impacted my life in some manner throughout my career.”

Superintendent Brian Gum presented the Superintendent Report, saying, “Havre Public Schools wrapped up the month of December with 1,802 students.”

Indian Policy and Procedures Spring Meeting will be for “providing the opportunity for tribes and parents and children to provide their views on our LEA educational programs and activities,” Gum said. The date is yet to be determined for the meeting.

The Library Variance was approved for the next three years and will expire June 30, 2027.

The Innovative Educational Program Tax Credit received a total of $47,000 in donations.

The Accreditation Process will submit paperwork on or before Friday, February 28. The Continuous School Improvement Plan Process was wrapped up on Thursday, January 16.

The Hutterite Colonies will have education provided by the Havre School District for the school year of 2025-2026. The final plans for these details are set to be discussed with colony leaders at the end of January.

There will be a Final Strategic Plan Meeting on Thursday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m.

The next Board of Trustees meeting will be on Tuesday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Havre Middle School.
