Pony swimmers race hard at home

The new year brought the return of the Havre Invitational last weekend at the Havre Community Pool. 

The Blue Ponies played host to Great Falls High and CMR in their annual triangular home meet last Saturday, the Ponies had plenty of successes against the Class AA teams.

Individually, inn the girls' 200 IM, Elizabeth Carroll finished third with a time of 3:06.73. Micah Cammon finished second in the boys' 200 IM, clocking in at 2:51.09. Ainsley Courtnage and Miriam Carroll finished second and third in the girls' 50-meter freestyle with Courtnage coming in at 31.84 and Carroll finishing with a time of 32.93. For the HHS boys, Daniel Tilleman (25.58) and Brockton Elliot (26.31) also finished in the top three. Elliot also finished second in the boys' 100 butterfly, hitting the wall at 1:08.61.

In the girls 100-meter freestyle, Olivia Erickson finished second with a time of 1:12.28 and Courtnage was third at 1:16.56. Tilleman was second in the boys' 100 free at 59.36. Lilliana Smith was second for the HHS girls in the 400-meter freestyle as she finished at 5:31.03. The HHS boys had an individual winner in the 400 free as Denton DePriest won the race in 4:56.40.

Carroll finished the girls' 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:21.80. Noah Siemens secured second in the boys' 100 backstroke at 1:37.72. DePriest also won the boys' 100 breaststroke competition, finishing at 1:18.73. The Havre boys won the 200 IM relay with a time of 2:06.57. The Blue Ponies finished second in the relays in the girls' 200 IM (2:34.95), the girls' 200 freestyle (1:59.42), and the boys' 200 freestyle (1:48.42).

The Ponies will be back in the pool this weekend when they travel to Hardin for the Eastern A Meet on Saturday.
