It was a tale of two different non-conference games for the Havre High boys basketball team.
On Friday night, the Blue Ponies returned from Christmas break with a blowout win over the Hardin Bulldogs. Havre started strong and never looked back in a rousing win over Hardin, 76-69. Hardin did mount a late comeback but Tre Gary, Matt Huse and company were too much for the Bulldogs down the stretch.
However, things weren't as easy Saturday night as the Blue Ponies lost to the Northwest A Browning Indians 67-51. A 16-3 run by Browning in the second quarter was the difference as the Blue Ponies couldn't recover.
Havre got a game-high 29 points from senior Tre Gary, while fellow senior Matt Huse scored 11 points.
The Blue Ponies are now 5-3 overall this season. Havre will return to the hardwood on Friday night when the Ponies play at Class B powerhouse Malta. HHS then takes on highly-touted Glendive on the road on Saturday night.
