Obituary - Michele Ann (Gernaat) Goyette

Michele Ann (Gernaat) Goyette passed away surrounded by her family on Dec. 7, 2024.

Michele was florin on Oct. 13, 1968, to Williams C. Gernaat and Kathleen (Brownell) Woeppel in Great Falls, Montana. Michele was raised in Great Falls until she and her sister moved to Havre in 1976 with her mother and attended schools in Havre, Montana. Michele graduated from Havre High School in 1987.

MIchele then moved back to Great Falls, Montana, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana. Michele later obtained her master’s degree in counseling in May of 2020 from Montana State University Billings. Michele looked forward to working with the children as their counselor.

Michele’s relationship with Jesus Christ was a big part of Michele’s life. She invited Jesus into her heart and life at the Big Sky Apanto Christmas Retreat in December of 1984.

Michele also served alongside her husband in the ministry for over 30 years. Michele was incredibly strong in her battle against lung cancer, but said, “throughout my battle, no matter what happens, I want God to be Glorified.” Michele had an unwavering faith in God and dedicated her life to God until Michele took her last breath on earth. Michele is now in her eternal home in Heaven with God Almighty.

Michele was an incredible cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Michele had a passion for gardening, canning and made the best pickled beets ever. Everyone wanted a jar or two.

Michele loved going to Glacier National Park, where Larry proposed to her in their spot and she said, “Yes.” Every year they returned to that spot and they went there this year to enjoy that special moment in their lives. It was the last trip she took before she was hospitalized.

Oct. 24-27. 2024, Michele’s siblings and family rented a B&B to spend the weekend together wile Michele was able to attend. Everyone enjoyed playing games indoors and outdoors as the weather was great. Lots of laughter, stories and tears, but everyone said it was the BEST weekend ever.

Michele met the love of her life, Larry Goyette, and they were married on June 17, 1989. Larry and Michele have three children, Caleb, Naomi and Joel.

Michele is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Caleb (Sidney) Goyette; daughter, Naomi (Neal) Schranz, and son, Joel Goyette; her seven grandchildren, Brodie, Isaac, Abigail and Stetson Goyette and Claire, Brooklynn and Mia Schranz; her mother, Kathleen (Allan) Woeppel; Mary Gernaat, more than a stepmom (wife of William Gernaat); siblings, Darin (Dawn), Qinton and Drew Woeppel and sisters Laurice (Doug) Cady and Jacqueline (Titus) Bergren and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The Memorial Service will be held on Jan. 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at New City Church, 205 River Drive South, Great Falls, Montana, 59405, with a reception following at the Elks Lodge, 500 First Ave. South, Great Falls, Montana, 59401.

The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to Shodair Children’s Hospital, Helena, Montana, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Big Sky Apanto in Great Falls, Montana, or to one’s choice.
