Christmas IS THIS WEEK!!
You know, Lord, it was great buzzing around town the other evening, viewing Christmas decorations and a multitude of lights. Then, Sunday in Church, two little boys were sharing with friends that they had been all over town, counting this and that. “I saw all sorts of ‘ballons’ of animals, dogs, bears and horses, no cows but one huge black cat — almost as big as the house it was by; it was wiggling its toes and nose! We saw stuff by 33 houses!”
The other little boy mentioned that he had seen a HUGH Santa Claus, also almost as BIG as the house it was by. “We saw ‘stuff’ like that by about 48 places but I didn’t see that any Santa had any presents to deliver, did you Phil?”
Jammie quickly said, “Christmas isn’t just about all the stuff you saw, it’s about baby Jesus coming. We also drove around town, viewed lovely scenes, beautiful decorations, but we saw only 3 nativity scenes. That’s the true meaning of Christmas, and it is Jesus that we should be looking for He is GOD’S gift to us. We just reread that at Sunday School last week, that’s precious to know; that Jesus came to be our gift, it’s with Him — through Him, that we get to go to Heaven to be with Him and our Father God. Can we even imagine how the shepherds felt when the Angels flew down to them to tell them that ‘Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, and is the Messiah, the Lord?[1]’”
Then music started — and they all sang: “Away in a Manger….”
Love Mara.
[1] Luke 2:11 — “The Savior — yes, the Messiah, the Lord — has been born tonight in Bethlehem. How will you recognize Him? You will find a baby wrapped in a blanket, lying in a manger.”
