The Montana Stater University-Northern women’s basketball team returned from the Thanksgiving break with a pair of road games in Dickinson, North Dakota last weekend.
Last Friday, the Skylights lost to Valley City State University 74-53 in Dickinson, North Dakota. The Skylights outscored the Vikings in the first two quarters going into halftime up 34-24. Valley City went on a nine and one run cut into the lead after halftime. Diemert hit a three to take the lead with 4:20 left on the clock in the third. The Vikings kept the momentum into the fourth quarter holding the Skylights to six points.
The Skylights were led by Canzas HisBadHorse with 12 points going 5-8 from the field. Emma Wass came off the bench giving the Skylights a spark with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Northern, of heard coach Chris Mouat, bounced right back on Saturday though, as the Skylights beat Dickinson State for the second time this season. The Skylights beat DSU 61-58 in Dickinson, North Dakota. The first quarter was a wash 14-14. The Skylights pulled ahead to go into halftime by six after Aiyanna Big Man hit a three at the buzzer. After half, the Skylights took the third quarter 17-14. The Blue Hawks had a run in fourth, outscoring Northern 17-11. The Skylight a couple free throws at the end to take the game by three.
The Skylights had three athletes in double figures. Northern was led by Shyan Krass, who had 12 points going 50 percent from the field. Canzas HisBadHorse and Savannah Toms each added 10 points.
The Skylights are now 4-3 on the season and host Saint Mary’s this Saturday at 1 p.m.
