North Star speech and drama continues strong showings

The North Star speech and drama team competed in the Conrad Whoop Up Tournament Saturday, Nov. 16.

In drama, the humorous theatre trio of Jon Schaumloeffel, Cooper Clawson and Josh Campbell placed 4th. They brought home the 3rd-place drama finish for the team.

On the speech side, in original oratory, Ecko Fraser took 2nd and Savannah Schaumloeffel placed 7th. In spontaneous oral interpretation of literature, C.J. Berton placed 8th. In humorous oral interpretation,Troy Barrett took 9th.

Aydan Bettelyoun placed 4th in Lincoln-Douglas debate.

And that was following a strong showing in the team’s first tournament.

The North Star Speech team clinched first place in their season opening meet hosted by CJI Nov. 9 and placed third in drama.

In speech, Berton took first in spontaneous oral interpretation of literature, Fraser placed second in original oratory, Barrett took third in humorous oral interpretation and Bettelyoun placed sixth in Lincoln-Douglas debate. In drama, trio Schaumloeffel, Campbell and Clawson placed third in humorous theatre.

The Knights had two weeks off over Thanksgiving and their next venture will be Dec. 6 and 7 in Columbus, Montana. The Speech and Drama Knights are coached by Linda Lett.
