Unidentified vehicle occupant seen using recording device near school
From Havre Public Schools
At approximately 7:50 am a parent identified a vehicle parked near the Highland Park School utilizing a recording device. During this time HPS administration made the decision to increase adult supervision with a heightened level awareness while children were outside. Our continuous level of security and building checks were maintained. Havre Police were notified and attempted to identify the vehicle. The vehicle was again seen in the area at lunchtime. HPD attempted to contact the driver.
In light of, this situation the following measures will be implemented to ensure student safety for the remainder of the day and until students are returned safely home:
1. Recess for the remainder of the day will be conducted indoors.
2. Increased security and police presence at the close of the day in the building and on the playground.
3. School staff will accompany students on the bus for the duration of each in town bus route, ensuring that students are correctly united with family. The Boys and Girls Club have been notified and will operate with extra security measures in place.
4. Additional staff will facilitate an indoor pickup for students who do not ride the bus. For those picking up students at Highland Park, please bring a current photo ID and enter the playground through the west gate as normal. Only people on the emergency contact list will be allowed to pick up a child.
At this time the only school affected by these changes is Highland Park.
