Robert J. Henke, 93, passed on November 15, 2024, in Chester.
He was born in Plentywood, MT, on July 25, 1931 to Gracie and Jules Henke.
Robert grew up at the family farm at Dagmar, MT. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 during The Korean War. Robert took his basic training in San Antonio, TX. He was stationed in numerous places throughout his service to our country including Iceland. While Robert was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, MI, he met Louise Park.
Robert and Louise were married at Lachine, MI, on October 5, 1956. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on October 5, 2024.
Robert's family purchased their farm south of Chester in 1955. Robert and Louise moved to that farm in 1956 and raised their family of five children there.
Robert and Louise spent many winters in Yuma, AZ with many friends and family. They also enjoyed traveling and took several cruises.
Robert loved God and Jesus and was very faithful in his service daily. He lived a quiet, humble life of integrity. We are forever grateful for the example Dad left.
Robert is survived by his wife, Louise; children, Craig (Becky), Cathy (Mick), Doug (Tammie), Dennis and Cheryl (Marty); 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell and Richard Henke; and a sister, Ruth Henke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jules Henke Jr .; and sisters Mary Rasmussen and Betty Walter.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Rockman Funeral Chapel from 5-7 p.m. On Friday, November 22, 2024 a reception at the Golden Triangle Center (Joplin High School) will begin at 12 p.m. followed by the service at 2 p.m.
