Skylights win, host Frontier volleyball tournament

The Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament is coming to the Armory Gymnasium. And the Montana State University-Northern Skylights couldn't be more excited.

Northern, which is the No. 5 seed in the tournament, ended the regular season with a thrilling five-set win over Carroll College last Saturday in Helena. MSU-N beat the Saints by scores of 18-25, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-10. Alana Graves had a team-high 14 kills and eight blocks, while Lexa Stock played her best match as a Northern player, securing 13 kills and two blocks. Macee Murphy and Emily Feller combined for 54 assists, while Baily Egan had 32 digs.

The win ended Northern's regular season with a 4-11 record in the league, which pushed them ahead of Rocky Mountain College.

In the tournament, Providence will be the No. 1 seed and Montana Tech is the No. 2 seed. Both teams have a first-round bye, while Rocky faces third-seeded Montana Western in one match, and Northern will have an immediate rematch with the Fighting Saints.

The 2024 Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament runs Friday and Saturday at the Armory Gymnasium. The champion will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament.
