Skylights lose tough games in Great Falls

The Montana State University-Northern women's basektball team faced some big challenges last weekend in Great Falls.

On Friday, The Skylights lost against NAIA power The Master's University 85-63.. The Mustangs got a jump on the Skylights outscoring them 26-11 in the first quarter. They extended the lead going into halftime 50-28. The Skylights took the third quarter 21-19, but it wasn't enough.

The Skylights were led by Taya Trottier who had 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Canzas HisBadHorse added 12 points going 5-9 from the field. Lynnea Moran added nine points. The Mustangs were led by Marin Lenz with 24 points going 11-18 from the field. Alli VanKooten added 12 points and added six rebounds. Lexi Hernandez added a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

On Saturday, the Skylights lost against (RV) University of Jamestown 82-70 The Skylights got off to a slow start falling behind in the first quarter 16-8. Jamestown couldn't miss in the second quarter pushing the lead to 47-30. The Skylights came out of halftime ready to go, as they outscored the Jimmies 21-16. The Skylights were able to cut the lead to 10, but it wasn't enough to take the game.

Northern was led by Shyan Krass , who had 20 points and seven rebounds. Canzas HisBadHorse added 14 points going 4-9 from the field. McKenzie Long added 12 points. Trottier added eight assists. The Jimmies were led by Kate Cordes who had 25 points going 7-13 from the field. Kate Busek added 12 points and five rebounds. Hannah Hagel led the team in rebounds with 11.

The Skylights (1-2) play in their home opener on November 18 against Dickinson State University at 5 p.m.
