Light's hoops drops two to Cascade powers

It was a tough weekend on the road for the Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team as the Lights fell to both Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon in Helena.

Last Friday, Northern fell to Southern Oregon University 82-61 in Helena. Southern pushed the lead early in the first half 19-10. The Lights cut into the lead to seven. The Raiders went on a run to extend the lead to 15 points going into half. Southern was able to just keep a good lead for the rest of the second half to win the game.

The Lights were led by Leon Sayers IV who had 16 points and added seven rebounds. Jack Reardon went 6-10 from the field with 17 points. Xavier Bailey added seven points.The Raiders were led by Joe Juhala who went 5-7 from the field with 17 points. Gabe Reichie went 6-8 from the field with 16 points.

On Saturday, the Lights fell to Eastern Oregon University 84-71. The first was a battle going back and forth. Eastern hit a shot with :12 left in the first half taking the lead 40-36. The Lights took the lead 60-59 with 8:36 left in the game. The Mountaineers went on a 5-0 run to push the lead to 11 and were able to pull away late.

The Lights were led by Jack Reardon who had 19 points going 6-13 from the field. Cinque Maxwell went 5-5 from the field with 13 points and five rebounds. Rogan Barnwell added 12 points.

The Mountaineers were led by Jaden Hansen who had 18 points, and five rebounds. Brennen Newsom added 12 points and six rebounds. Garrett Hawkes went 5-11 with 11 points.

The Lights are 1-2 in the overall season. Next up is a home game against Dickinson State Nov. 18.
