Skylights sweep Frontier Player of the Week basketball honors

HELENA, Mont. – Montana State-Northern swept the first edition of the 2024-25 Erck Hotels/Frontier Women's Basketball Players-of-the-Week. The NAIA implemented new weekly basketball awards, awarding the Offense and Defense Players-of-the-Week.

Offense of the Week: Taya Trottier, Montana State-Northern

Trottier, a junior guard from Harlem, Mont., was chosen as the Offense Player of the Week.

The Skylights got their first win against Park-Gilbert (Ariz.) 94-71. She scored 20 points on her 9-of-13 field goals (69.2 percent), made a 3-pointer and a free-throw in the game.

Trottier also dished out five assists and grabbed three offensive rebounds for MSU-Northern.

This is Trottier's third career Erck Hotels / Frontier Conference Player of the Week award.

Defense of the Week: Katelynn Forner, Montana State-Northern

Forner, a senior guard from Camas, Wash., was selected as the Defense Player of the Week.

Forner tied the Northern's record for most steals in a single game with 10 steals (record was set 20 years ago), fueling to a 94-71 victory over Park-Gilbert (Ariz.).

She was just one point shy of producing a triple-double in the game for MSU-Northern. She recorded nine points, dished out 10 assists and stole the ball 10 times.

This is Forner's first career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Player of the Week award.
