Skylights lose two tough matches

It was yet another tough week for the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team, as the Skylights went 0-2 in Frontier Conference play.

The Skylights lost to Rocky Mountain College in Havre on Wednesday night. Northern lost to the Battlin' Bears in five sets (25-22, 21-25, 19-25, 28-26, and 16-14). 

The first set was anyone's game, as the Battlin' Bears went on a 5-0 run to take the set. Rocky pushed the lead in the second set, until Northern went on a 9-2 run to finish the second set. Northern was able to take the lead in the third set after a 9-2 run (18-15). They were able to finish it out taking the set. The fourth set was a battle, as the Skylights went on 7-1 run to take the lead 17-15. Rocky put together a couple good rally's to take the fourth set. The fifth set went back and forth, but Rocky was able to go five straight points to take the match.

The Skylights were led by Alana Graves with 20 kills and a hitting percentage of .415. Jessalyn Chvilicek had 15 kills. Baily Egan led the Skylights with 32 digs. Macee Murphy led the team in assists with 30.

On Saturday, Northern went on the road and fell to Montana Western in Dillon. The Skylights fell to the Bulldogs in three sets (25-18, 25-19, and 25-19). Montana Western took the lead early in the first set. The Skylights stayed in the game, but wasn't enough to come back to take the set. In the second set, Western took the lead and never looked back. The Bulldogs pushed the lead in the set three to take the match.

The Skylights were led by Alana Graves with 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .269. Alyssa Pretty Weasel had seven kills. Baily Egan led the team in digs with 18. Macee Murphy led the Skylights with 19 assists.

The Skylights are 11-14 in their season and fell to 3-10 in the Frontier Conference. Northern finishes the regular season with a matches at Providence and home against Carroll College.
