The Havre High volleyball team had a tough ending to the 2024 regular season as the Ponies fell at Miles City last Saturday.
But, the postseason gives Havre a chance to regroup and start over. And the postseason begins for the Ponies this weekend when they take part in the Eastern A Divisional Tournament in Lewistown.
Havre finished third in the Northeast A, and opens the tournament against Lockwood today. Of course, the tournament is filled with powerhouse teams, including Hardin, Lockwood, Billings Central and Lewistown. The Ponies, along with Miles City and Laurel, will also be tough teams.
The Ponies have had a strong regular season, and with veteran leadership, Havre is poised for big things this weekend, but, it won't be easy.
Havre plays the first match of the tournament, as the Ponies take on Lockwood, the No. 2 from the Southeast A. Lewistown, the No. 1 seed from the Northeast A, will play Laurel in the second match, followed by Hardin, the No. 3 from the Southeast, battling Miles City. The final first-round match is set for Billings Central, the No. 1 seed facing Sidney.
Thursday will also see the quarterfinals played, while Friday will feature four loser-out matches , the undefeated semifinal and the fourth-place match. Saturday has the third-place match and the championship matches.
The top four teams from the Eastern A advance to next weekend's State A Tournament in Bozeman.
