Fort Benton wins 7C title, hosts divisional tourney 

The Big Sandy Pioneers made them work for it. But, the Fort Benton Longorns are the District 7C volleyball champions.

On Saturday night, Fort Benton beat Big Sandy in a second championship match after the Pioneers won the first match in the 7C tournament in Chester.

Earlier Saturday, Big Sandy outlasted the host Hawks in the third-place match to advance to the finals against the Longhorns, who had defeated the Hawks in the undefeated semifinals in Friday night. 

Meanwhile, Big Sandy came through the loser-out bracket, knocking off North Star to reach the fourth-place match where the Pioneers then took out the Centerville Miners.

On day one of the tournament, Fort Benton beat North Star and Centerville, while CJI took out Box Elder and Big Sandy in the quarterfinals. The Pioneers opened with a win over Hays-Lodge Pole. 

On day two, HLP eliminated Box Elder, the Pioneers eliminated North Star and Centerville eliminated HLP.

Fort Benton, Big Sandy, CJI and Centerville join Augusta, Simms, Belt and Cascade from the 6C in this weekend's Northern C Divisional Tournament, which runs today through Saturday in Fort Benton.
