The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Northeastern Land Office announced Josh Stoychoff has been hired as the new Lewistown Unit manager.
Stoychoff officially started in the position October 21, 2024, succeeding Jocee Hedrick, who now serves as the Northeastern Land Office Area Manager.
As the Lewistown unit manager, Stoychoff will oversee the activities of the Forestry and Trust Land Division programs across eight counties, including agriculture, grazing, minerals and real estate management. The counties served by the Lewistown Unit include Chouteau, Hill, Blaine, Petroleum, Fergus, Judith Basin, Wheatland and Golden Valley
"Josh Stoychoff has been a great asset for the DNRC over the past decade," Hedrick said. "With his background in ecology and long history of success at NELO, we are excited to add him to our management team."
Prior to this hire, Stoychoff worked as the NELO Area Forester for 10 years, where he gained extensive experience in trust land management and forestry assistance. Stoychoff holds a degree in urban forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
"I am deeply committed to promoting the sustainable management of all Montana school trust lands, ensuring that these vital resources continue to support education and local economies for generations to come," Stoychoff said. "This new role will allow me to take on new responsibilities in pursuit of that mission."
The Lewistown Unit Office conducts field activities for the Forestry and Trust Lands Division and is responsible for the day-to-day operations by the Department within its area. Stoychoff will continue to work out of the Northeastern Land Office in Lewistown.
