Skylights dominate at Frontier-North Star Challenge

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team is on a roll. And though the Skylights took the weekend off from Frontier Conference play, that roll continued as Northern traveled to Billings for the Frontier-North Star Challenge.

Last Friday saw the Skylights sweep Mayville State and Valley City State.

The Skylights volleyball team won against Mayville State University first. The Skylights beat the Comets in three sets (31-29, 25-18, and 25-18). The Skylights were led by Alana Graves with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .471. Macee Murphy added 11 kills with a percent of .240 and added 12 digs. Bailey Egan led the team in digs with 13. Emily Feller led the Skylights with 26 assists.

The Skylights also swept Valley City. The Skylights beat the Vikings in three sets (25-23, 28-26, and 25-15). The Skylights were led by Alana Graves with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .500 and added seven blocks. Lexa Stock added 12 kills with a percent of .308. Baily Egan led the team in digs with 20. Macee Murphy led the Skylights with 27 assists.

Northern finished its tournament run Saturday with a 3-0 win over Dickinson State. The Skylights beat the Blue Hawks by scores of 25-22, 25-5 and 25-14.

The three wins in Billings pushed MSU-N to 10-9 overall. Northern returns to conference play this week with matches at Providence tonight and then they host Rocky Mountain College Saturday night at 6 p.m. in the Armory Gymnasium.
