Doug was born January 2, 1951, in Havre to Max and Pearl (Eggen) Moore. He was raised in Joplin, graduating from Joplin High School in 1969. Doug was a farmer at birth, helping his parents on their farms in Montana and Saskatchewan. After high school, he attended Western School of Heavy Equipment. When completed, he moved to Chester to work at General Mills. Doug met Bonnie Otterstetter at a wedding for mutual friends, and the couple married in Billings in 1974. They moved to the farm at East End, Saskatchewan in 1976. Later they and their first-born son moved to Inverness to farm at Joplin. Doug was the Inverness Star Route Mail Carrier for 32 years. Through rain and shine, mud and snow, he delivered to the rural residents. The family moved to Joplin after the purchase of Doug's parents' house and farm buildings in 1981, and remained there until his passing.

Doug was a compassionate man with a zest for life, enjoying motorcycles, muscle cars, fast boats, guitars, ice cream, and double dipped chocolate covered peanuts from 2Js. He enjoyed camping and boating at Tiber Dam with Bonnie and the kids. He loved farming and the time spent working and teaching his kids the inner workings of every piece of equipment on the farm, whether it needed work or NOT! The kids appreciated their dad attending their school events, be it plays, concerts, programs, football, basketball, volleyball, track meets, and others.

When his boys were younger, Doug was involved with the Joplin Boy Scouts, serving as Assistant Scoutmaster. He believed in the importance of self-reliance and discipline the program provided for survival skills.

Doug was a truly giving man who would help anyone who needed it, often recruiting his kids to do the same.

Doug was a prominent figure in the Joplin community, serving as a volunteer firefighter, on the fire board, Joplin water board, and was involved in the Joplin Commercial Club. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he served on the council, and helped build the new church with his friends. Other projects he contributed to include the updates to the Joplin Park and the Community Hall. He was also on the building committee for the new J-I gymnasium and school addition.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Pearl Moore, parents-in-law John and Blanche Otterstetter, sisters-in-law Linda Morrison and Wanda Hansen.

Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Moore, of Joplin; children, Michael (Emilia) Moore of Havre, Mindie Moore of Ketchikan, AK, and Matthew Moore of Havre; four grandchildren, Ricky, Alaura, Allison, and Maddox Moore; brother Don (Yvonne) Moore of Juniata, NE; sister, Kay (Sheridan) Becker of Billings; in-laws, Frances Lagerquist and Rae Jean Koch, both of Billings, Mike (Julia) Otterstetter of Fairview, Jeff Morrison of Plentywood, and Doug Hansen of Williston, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
