Hill County Park board members met Monday evening and talked about issues including funding for the new Camp Kiwanis Lodge.

The board is looking to get help from the public with funding for the lodge. The costs for this project have exceeded what the board has saved up for, and the intention is to begin raising more money to complete the project.

The photos of the layout of the new lodge can be viewed on the Facebook page Beaver Creek Park - Camp Kiwanis.

Montana Fish, Wildilfe and Parks fisheries biologist Cody Nagel was also in attendance to discuss updates on the park's structural condition from recent floodings.

"With the help of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, you know, we can sit down and try to get some sort of restoration specialist to come in there and do some real good field surveys," Nagel said, "Just that minor little flood we had here in mid-September, the stream breached. Fish, Wildlife and Parks is really interested in working with the park board."

Beaver Creek Park Superintendent Chad Edgar talked about the general updates in the park.

"Park usage has been relatively slow, but busier than normal thanks to the nice weather, lot of green grass still present," Edgar said, "Still trying to maintain the campgrounds... winterizing is nearly complete."

Law enforcement patrols have increased greatly in the park. In the last month, the park has reported five dead cattle, due to people driving too fast. Speeding over the limit is the main reason for all of these collisions, and the board implored to the public to slow down when driving through the park.

The Park Board's next meeting will be on November 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Beaver Creek Perk coffee shop.
