Black powder club holds Christmas Turkey Shoot

The Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club held its annual Christmas Turkey Shoot on Sunday, October 13, at the Hill County Sports Shooting Range on River Road west of Havre. Thirteen shoot ers participated in the afternoon event with six matches, all five shots each, at various distances and positions. Shooting conditions were excellent with temperatures in the mid 60’s with no wind. The winners of the matches were:

25-yard Pistol: 1st Pete Husbey, Havre, 45; 2nd Andy Owens, Havre, 25; 3rd Caleb Huseby, Havre, 23.

25-yard Offhand: 1st Randy Owens, Havre, 41; 2nd Pete Husbey, Havre, 40; 3rd Kendall Griggs, Havre, 38.

50-yard Offhand: 1st Pete Huseby, Havre, 46x; 2nd Chris Moen, Havre, 42; 3rd Clinit Owens, Havre, 39.

50-yard Cross Sticks: 1st Andy Owens, Havre, 48; 2nd Cameron Griggs, Havre, 46; 3rd; Hondo Owens, Havre, 46.

50-yard Cross Sticks (6-bull target): 1st Sidney Griggs, Havre, 41; 2nd Andy Owens, Havre, 41; 3rd Pete Huseby, Havre, 38.

50-yard Offhand Cartridge: 1st Pete Huseby, Havre, 44xx; 2nd Sidney Griggs, Havre, 38; 3rd Caleb Huseby, Havre, 37.

In keeping with the holiday spirit contestants could win only one turkey for the day. Thirteen places were paid out giving every shooter a turkey this year.
