Pony golf teams qualify right for State A golf

The Havre High golf teams played the difficult Laurel Country Club last Friday as the course hosted the Eastern A Divisinal Tournament.

And HHS did quite well on both sides.

Head coach Dennis Murphy's Pony girls finished fourth with a team score of 450, which got them into this week's Class A state tournament in Polson.

The HHS girls were paced by senior Callie Bebee who shot 105. Tierra Parker added a 110, Lillianna Smith shot 115 and Madison Reber scored a 120, as the HHS girls snuck into the all-important Top 4. Individually, Parker and Bebee both finished inside the Top 20.

Billings Central won the girls team title, while Livingston was second and Sidney was third.

The Pony boys meanwhile, just missed out on a Top 4 finish as they shot a 363, which was 12 strokes behind fourth-place Livingston.

Matt Huse, Noah Barrett and Callen Stoner all shoot rounds of 90 for the Ponies, finishing inside the Top 20. Quinn Elliott also shot 93 to qualify for the state tournament, too. Evan Alisch rounded out the Pony scoring with a 101.

Laurel won the boys team title, while Central was second and Sidney was third.

Now, the eight Blue Pony boys and girls will head to Polson where they'll play the 2024 Class A State Tournament this Friday and Saturday at the Mission Bay Golf Club.
