Skylights win at RMC, get Frontier split

Following a tough loss to nationally-ranked Montana Tech last Thursday, the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team bounced back in a big way.

Last Saturday, Northern won its first Frontier Conference match when the Skylights defeated Rocky Mountain College 3-1, by scores of 25-14, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-20.

Four Skylights hit double figures in kills, led by 17 from Alana Graves while Macee Murphy with 15. Bailey Egan led in digs with 22, with Murphy adding 19. Murphy also had assist honors with 26, and Emily Feller contributed 23 assists.

The win came after a four-set loss to Montana Tech last Thursday in the Armory Gymnasium. The Orediggers defeated Northern by scores of 25-19, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-19. 

Alana Graves had 13 kills in to pace Northern. Murphy was just behind Graves with 12 kills. Jessalyn Chvilicek added 10 kills in the loss.

Northern is now 1-3 in the Frontier Conference. MSU-N has another busy week ahead. The Skylights plat at Carroll College Thursday night and then host the rival Providence Argos on Saturday at the Armory Gymnasium. The Skylights and Argos meet at 2 p.m. this Saturday.
