HHS football comes up short at Miles City

Back on the road, the Havre High football team lost a heartbreaker last Friday night.

In their third Eastern A game of the young season, the Blue Ponies fell at Miles City 22-19.

The Ponies got an early spark from Tre Gary, who returned a Miles City kickoff 80 yards for a score, that tied the game at 7-7. Havre took a 13-78 lead when Griffin Terry threw a touchdown pass to Chris Bell in the second stanza. Miles City would answer and take a 14-13 lead into halftime, and the game remained tight the rest of the way.

Late in the fourth though, it looked like the Ponies would get out of Miles City with a big win as they took a 19-14 lead into the final minute of the game. However, the Cowboys scored with under a minute to play, and completed a two-point conversion to seal the game.

The heartbreaking loss dropped Havre to 1-2 on the season. The Ponies now get to come back home where head coach Jake Eldridge’s team will battle Glendive. Kickoff between the Ponies and Red Devils is set for 7 p.m. this Friday at Blue Pony Stadium.
