Blue Ponies come up short in hope-opener against Central

A big matchup with Billings Central marked the first game back at Blue Pony Stadium for the 2024 Havre High football team.

And while the game was close for much of the contest, the Rams proved to be too much for the Blue Ponies in the end, as Billings Central pulled away for a 35-20 win Friday night in Havre.

The game was tight throughout as BC led 7-6 after the first quarter, but the Ponies came back to knot the game at 14-14 at halftime. Havre trailed just 21-20 after three quarters, but the Rams scored twice and shut out Havre in the final 15 minutes to pull away for the Eastern A victory.

Griffin Terry threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Colter Solomon, and an 69-yarder to Tre Gary, while Tate Nelson scored on a 56-yard run as Havre's offense did roll up over 300 yards.

The Ponies are now 1-1 as they travel to Miles City this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
