Great Northern fairgrounds see successful summer

The Great Northern Fair Board last week heard about a successful summer with the 2024 Great Northern Fair seeing a 16 percent profit overall.

An extra thanks was given out to AmericInn for donating rooms for the traveling entertainment during the Havre fair, and to "Rocky Boy for staying in Havre for a third year and helping make the fair successful," board memberKenny Erickson said.

New bathrooms at the fairgrounds are in the final stages of being finished.

The board is looking forward to some upcoming events. Oct. 5 is the Ag Appreciation event and the Trunk or Treat event will be Oct. 31.

Alfalfa seed was anonymously donated to the fairgrounds to help reduce the alkali in the fields around the fairground, as well as grow new grass to fill in the field.

Board Manager Bob Kaul made in a motion to obtain bids on future projects for the fairgrounds, including upgrading the siding to maintain the integrity buildings, and to make clean up and maintenance easier on the employees.

Openings are available on the board, and members are encouraging the public to apply. Extra helpers also are needed for the Ag event and the Trunk or Treat event.

The next Fair Board meeting will be on Tuesday September 17 at 5:30 p.m.
