The Montana State University-Northern volleyball season is underway.
Last weekend, the Skylights opened their season at the Big Sky Challenge in Butte.
Northern started the first weekend of the regular season with a loss to Embry-Riddle University, falling by scores of 25-22, 23-25, 21-25 and 23.25. Alana Graves had 16 kills, while Macee Murphy led in assist and digs.
Northern rebounded with a win over Our Lady of the Lake by scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-18 on Friday. Graves again led the way with 18 kills.
Northern then finished the tournament with a bang as the Skylights won twice. Northern swept Bushnell University by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-23, with Graves totaling 12 kills and five blocks and Jessa Chvilicek tallying nine kills.
To close out the first weekend of the new season, Northern took care of Loyola University by scores of 27-25, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-14. Murphy had a strong match with 16 assist and 16 digs,.
Now off to a 3-1 start Northern will visit Great Falls Friday and Saturday for the University of Providence Tournament.
