The Blaine County Fair is back next week, Aug. 8-11, with a week of rip-roaring activities including the award-winning PRCA Bear Paw Roundup rodeo and free rides featuring The Kids Fun Zone and Amusement.

The arena events start a week early with the Kids rodeo being held Saturday, Aug. 3, starting at 10 a.m. Events include Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Goat Un-Tying, Breakaway, Flag Race, Chute Dogging, Calf Roping, Steer Riding, Steer Chase, Sheep Riding, Arena Race, Boot Race and Team Roping with people limited to three events. People can find more information at https://www.blainecountyrodeoteam.com/kids-rodeo.

During the main fair events, the Bear Paw Roundup, presented by Moxley Construction, will be held Thursday and Friday, Aug. 8-9, starting at 7 p.m. both days.

Saturday, Aug. 10, features the Small Town Beat Down Demolition Derby starting at 6 p.m.

The fair web site says a new group of volunteers is bringing back the derby with the biggest payout Chinook has ever seen, and the chance for people who didn’t have the time to build a car to participate. A raffle for chances to participate in the Fan Heat will be held, and people can call Garrett Powell at 406-431-3950, Winston Anderson at 406-390-4556 or Chris Haider at 406-390-2694 or visit the derby’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555688788624 for more information.

Carnival hours will be noon to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, though the fair website says the hours are subject to change and will be updated as we get closer to fair. Tickets for Bungee Trampoline, Battle Balls and games will be sold by The Kids Fun Zone. And the fair will have a Stunt Jump, 25 foot Rock Wall, and Dizzy X maze race this year.

Regular favorite Pippi the Clown also will be back to entertain fairgoers.

And the Blaine County 4-H’ers also will be a major part of the fair.

Montana State University Extension Blaine County’s website says The 4-H portion of the Blaine County Fair is a premier event to showcase the many talents of local 4-H members. 4-H events include large and small animal shows, animal and indoor exhibits, a Round Robin overall showmanship, and a Youth Livestock sale. 4-H members also participate in interview judging during fair week, where they not only have a chance to explain what they learned through the completion of their project, but they also have the chance to acquire and polish their interview skills. Following the interview process, exhibits are then displayed in the 4-H Building for the duration of the fair for the public to view and enjoy.

All 4-H events will be held at the Blaine County Fairgrounds with the 4-H Horse Show kicking off the week, concluding with the Youth Livestock Sale.

“While enjoying this years’ events, come by and enjoy a meal or a slice of homemade pie at the 4-H Chuckwagon,” the Blaine County Extension website says.
