From Tee to Green: Golf season rolls on in the heat

The heat is on in Havre. Well, it is here in Denver, too. Maybe it's just about everywhere.

Nevertheless, the heat has taken hold as summer rolls on, and league golf does as well.

In Women's League at Prairie Farms Golf Course last week, D.A. Davdison won High-Team honors with 22 points, while Ali Ward was low gross with an outstanding 38. Low net went to Sydne Hader and Gena Bishoff.

In Scramble League at Beaver Creek Golf Course, Team Ollie leads the way, while Koefod and Cavaliers are in the lead in men's league at BCGC.

Tournament season is also ongoing.

Next up at Prairie Farms is the annual Duel on the Prairie Member/Guest Tournament August 2-3. The tournament deadline is July 27.

While summer may be in full swing, Havre High golf will be returning soon. The first day for Class A golf to begin practice is Aug. 15. If you'r playing high school golf this season, now's the time to get out on the course and put in the work!

Lastly, it's Open Championship week. It's hard to believe that we're down to the final major of the season, but it's indeed here. As always, The Open will be played in tough conditions, and so, it's time to pick a grinder. I know Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite, and Rory is the sentimental favorite. I'm not going chalk though. I will pick a big gun in Colin Morikawa to win, but, I'll also go with a local favorite as my plan b. It's time for Tyrrell Hatton to win a major so he's my darker horse pick.

Either way, I love The Open. I love staying up late and watching it, and this year's final major should be a lot of fun.
