Happy July with Grandpa
You know, Lord, fun things sometimes happen, if we notice. We were to meet Lilly at her favorite café in her town. We found the café, a parking spot, then went in, found her, with her back to us but we spotted her red hair and giggled. Since it was noonish, the café was nearly full.
Six folks sat four tables to our right. There was chatter all over, then we noticed a waitress bringing them their salads. The 'grandpa' spoke, "Bow your heads, we need to pray". He spoke loud enough so most of us heard him, but some of us couldn't hear his prayers words.
We noticed many bowed their heads, we did also. When he said "amen," the little boy at their table said, "Grandpa, your back is to the lady that was near the door. She looked grouchy; when you spoke, she stopped, bowed her head, I bowed mine, when you said 'amen, I looked, she sat down, put her hand in her purse, got up, this time she smiled, she looked way up, she said, 'Thank you' to God!"
The noise quieted, the waitress went to our left with their bill, the lady quietly said; "Here's a little green for that 'grandpa's' bill. Don't tell him who, just say they'd left, OK?"
Lilly motioned the waitress to our table, handed her a "piece of green," and also said "Don't tell grandpa." The waitress smiled. We noticed several others also doing that.
When grandpa got their bill, he looked shocked, asked what was going on; the waitress said, "I believe these folks are thanking you for the prayers you said; blessing family, friends, food, the Fourth of July, peace for America." Grandpa wiped the tears for his face. His grandson said; "Grandpa, it's so special to be with you, thank you." Grandpa said, 'Bless you, too, grandson, Fred, age 5!'
Thank You, Lord, for a special day to remember.
Love Mara
