Obituary - Mark Alan Aspevig

Mark Alan Aspevig, 75, passed on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Logan Health Chester after a hard fought battle with dementia.

Mark was born on December 14, 1948 in Havre to Hugo and Lois (Heydon) Aspevig. He was a lifelong and proud Rudyard Panther and enjoyed his active years farming the family farm.

He was an early believer in technology in farming and trusted all his "gadgets." He loved cars and machinery of all kinds and building things. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling and seeing the country. He loved to bowl and attended many tournaments with his Hi-Line friends.

He graduated from Rudyard High School in 1967, attended "motorhead school" in Denver for a year before returning home to marry his high school sweetheart and begin his farming career. He attended Northern Montana College in Havre studying industrial arts.

He was preceded in death by his parents and ex-wife, Kathy Welsh Aspevig.

Survivors include his wife, Gail (Matter) Aspevig of Rudyard; stepson, R.J. Matter (Katie) and grandchildren, Abby and Ryan, whom Mark was very proud of, all of Nashville, TN; siblings, Twila Kjensrud of Portland, OR, (Kristen and Kasey), Dale (Kathy) Aspevig of Sedona, AZ, and Herbert (Mika) Aspevig of Japan; many cousins in both the Heydon and Aspevig families; Margaret (Bill), Brandi and Brad Bjorklund, and the rest of the Lang family. He is also survived by Jamie, our newly discovered niece that unfortunately he was not lucky enough to meet and welcome to the family; Darren (Jessi) Stevenson (Luke, Josie, and Kasey) of Gildford, a family he considered his own as they took over the farm when Mark no longer could do so. Mark and his family will forever be thankful they came into their lives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to North Star School, Rudyard Ambulance and EMT, Hi-Line Health Foundation, 4-H Foundation, or donor's choice.

Services are pending. Condolences can be made at https://www.asperfh.com .
