Grief Poem - Time Counts

"My grandma died," little girl wept. "Mom said Gram was the best.

Oh, she could clean and bake good stuff, but now's in heaven to rest".

"Grandma was great - she lived close by, her grandkids she did love.

She will be missed by all her kin, but she's in heaven, above."

A guy called here; "Need prayer for Bill. They found his dad in bed.

"E.R. said, 'Take him home to rest'; friends found him, cold and dead!"

A handsome lad, lives out of state, his girlfriend was 'Celeste'.

Some guy 'stole' her, then shot her dead; that guy's under arrest.

All this happened one-week last month, shared with a trusted friend;

Sadness passed on; they'd asked for prayer; it's hard when 'lifetimes' end.

This month has memories as well, of kinfolks who've passed on.

Some kinfolks might be called 'cowboys', but spurs and chaps are gone.

Saddles might still be in the barn, and chaps - but who knows where?

Oh! Chaps did go to neighbor boys, they'd said, 'We want to share!'

Grandma and aunts, they were good cooks, their birthdays were last week.

Some cousins still may have those 'books' - maybe we'll sneak a peek!

Then 'Danile' called, "Eight weeks for Mom; Nurse said Mom's headed out.

She knew God's BOOK, knows that 'time counts', she'll meet Jesus, no doubt!"

But aren't we glad when life's done here, that God will call us home!

IF we know Christ, when works done here, no more on earth we'll roam!

Special and great - we've memories, of kin, of each dear one.

And one day soon, we'll fly to HIM, when our time here is done!!

We'll see Grandma, all our kin folks, and cowboys with their grins.

We'll be different, each one of us; will cowboys play violins!?
