Fourth of July Festival on again in Pepin Park

A tradition of some 25-years to celebrate Independence Day is again on in Havre.

The Fourth of July Festival is set to run in Pepin Park Thursday, July 4, from noon to 4 p.m.

Cassie Denny, in her second year organizing the event, said it starts at noon with a Bill Lanier and the Boy Scouts conducting a flag ceremony, followed by the singing of the national anthem by herself and Jenni Stoltz.

That will be followed by the food, with barbecued hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, chips, soda, water, and festive red, white and blue Rice Krispy treats.

“Our entertainment will include music, balloon animal artist Corey Pierson, balloon wands and a raffle table” Denny said, adding that several areas will be set up for people to take selfies. G

Games will include pie toss booth, sack race, giant connect four and corn hole toss.

“The festival is a completely free event,” Denny said, adding, “We’d like to thank our hometown businesses that have donated this. including Dylan’s Pizza, Grams Ice Cream Shop, Rod’s Drive In, Nalivkas Pizza Kitchen, The Duck Inn, Henny Penny Cupcakes, Hiway 2 tattoo, Parker’s Barbecue Pit, Les Schwab Tires, BNSF, Steve Neiffer the music man, and the Havre Lions Club for yet again coming through to grill.”

“Finally to the volunteers who are stepping in to help serve, to getting pied we look forward to a great turnout,” she said.

Later on, people are invited to watch the annual Havre Jaycees fireworks display set off at the Great Northern Fairgrounds at the onset of dark.
