It was back to district play for the Havre Northstars American Legion baseball club.
On Thursday, Havre returned to Northern District play with a sweep of the A Chargers in Great Falls. The Northstars beat the Chargers by scores of 8-3 and 12-1.
In game one, the Northstars halted a three-game losing streak by going exploding in the first inning, scoring four times and sending eight batters to the plate. It was 6-0 after two innings. Great Falls got a run back in the third inning and another in the fifth. The Chargers also scored in the sixth inning to cut the deficit in half, but the Northstars scored some insurance runs in the seventh. Tommy Lewis got the win pitching 6.1 innings and striking out nine Chargers. Teegan Solomon finished the game.
The nightcap saw a similar start to game one. Havre put runners on base and scored twice. Great Falls answered right back this time and were able to force in a run to make it 2-1 at the end of one. The Northstars would eventually go up 5-1, then they scored four more times in the third inning to go up 9-1. Havre was able to push across three more runs in the fifth inning, including a steal of home by right fielder Logan Kinsella. Colter Solomon finished a complete game on the mound for Havre.
The Northstars play four more games this weekend.
