On a date
You know, Lord, several gals shared about their June calendars, they giggled and said, "Would you believe that some of my family and friends dated in June and some married in June."
Sadie added, "My June calendar looks almost like you says yours looks, but mine also has birthdays of family, friends and neighbors. I'd not paid any attention to that, before!" They giggled, then shared about dating: "Remember, Judy, that we double dated a few times, dined out, shared a milkshake; my 'date' loved chocolate candy, so whatever he bought, he'd share with me and you two."
"I remember my first date, it was fun, we held hands! I smile when I see young folks walking along, holding hands, Sometimes I'll pause and speak with them to tell them how special it is to see them holding hands. But no more for me, it's been some years ago that my 'Lovey' has been dead and gone ... " said Judy, tears running down her checks.
Sadie added; 'How about the concerts we went to, dining out, dressing up for that, hugs and kisses - oh shhhh, I shouldn't have mentioned that!" We giggled, as we'd all been on that same page!
Mimi said, "Do you girls still have the first Valentine your sweetie might have given you, and maybe the heart-shaped box with chocolate candy? I still do." More smiles.
Sally cleared her throat: "None of you mentioned church; me and my Hank always went. His favorite Bible verses was David's prayer in Psalm 19:14, 'Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord,' reminding me that to use a wise mouth, means a wise heart's behind it, then he'd hug me, tell my how much he loved me."
Thank You, Lord, for your love shared with all of us.
Love, Mara
