News you can use
Dear Editor:
We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Havre community, its businesses and so many others for the warm and hospitable welcome that was given to the more than 160 visitors from across Montana that were here last week as part of the Montana Democratic Party’s Platform Convention. As local hosts, we heard again and again how impressed people were with our community’s friendliness, amenities, park system, cultural offerings and dining options. For folks visiting Havre for the first time, there was a lot of “Wow, I had no idea …”
Special thanks goes to Montana State University-Northern for use of their outstanding facilities and accommodating staff members; and to Montana Style Events for an incredible dinner in an idyllic setting.
The goal in hosting this gathering in Havre was simple: as we debate the important considerations that make up our party’s platform and that may influence policy at the state and national levels, we wanted to assure the voice of rural Montana was heard. The concerns and aspirations of folks who live and work in our state’s rural areas must be an integral part of the public policy work our elected officials consider as they legislate in both Helena and Washington, DC.
We are so fortunate to call Havre our home and were pleased to share this wonderful community with those who attended the convention. Thank you, Havre, for being a good host and for demonstrating what a special place we have here on the Hi-Line.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Ratliff, chair, Hill County Democrats
Rep. Paul Tuss, House District 28
