Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Happy Father's Day

You know, Lord, Father's Day is next Sunday, it was special to watch the younger and older guys being fathers. Before the church service began, one guy sat with several little girls; their mommy was off tending to, whatever. They were in the front row, but he carefully lifted the little one, maybe 3 years old, way up, holding tightly to her legs - she stood straight and tall, waved her arms, smiled; once back down, hugged her daddy tightly.

A grandpa leaned over, helped his two small grandsons draw some pictures on several sheets of paper; this also happening before church began - so they had time to do a few special things. It didn't take long, but once done drawing, they smiled, held their pictures up so Grandpa could see - he smiled, also.

Another 'grandpa' [and grandma] sat with two 'middle school' girls; they whispered back and forth, the girls went to 'visit' a friend a few rows away, then quickly came back to grandparents and their mommy, who smiled; then church began.

Another chap watched as kids went back and forth between grandparents, parents, and their friends; he sort of smiled - but he was all alone. Another guy, in the back row, didn't have a good look on his face - maybe he'd never been a dad, or maybe he'd not had a good dad .... Hard to tell.

Another chap with two boys; mommy just smiled as daddy whispered to the boys who were probably in lower elementary school. The youngest sat between mommy and dad, the oldest sat on the other side of dad. They were quiet and smiled when daddy whispered something to them.

Watching dad and kids share good deeds, reminds us of Bible verse 1 Timothy 6:18 "Be rich in good deeds, and be generous and willing to share." Lord, help us to have a generous spirit; renew our hope in you.

Love Mara
