Ponies both finish fourth at State A Track Meet

Thanks to a rousing final day of competition, the Havre High boys and girls track teams surged to some of their best finishes in recent memory at the Class A State Track Meet.

The 2024 state meet was held this past weekend, where the Pony girls took fourth with 68 points, while the Pony boys were fourth with 40 points.

Havre also had some outstanding individual performances for head coach Kari Filius' teams.

On the girls side, HHS standout Kaydence Reiter blazed her way to a state title in the prestigious 100 meters with a time of 12.27.2, while teammate Macy Brandon took fourth. Reiter and Brandon also doubled up in the 200 with a second and sixth, respectively, while Brandon went on to place fourth int he 400 as well.

Havre's relay teams were strong, as expected. The Ponies took second in the 4x100 and third in there 4x400. Also on the track, KYanna Jarvis placed second in the 100 hurdles in her final state meet.

In the field, Jarvis added a fifth in the high jump, while Ari Gary was second with a leap of 5-00. Macee May capped a brilliant season with a pair of fourth places in the long jump and triple jump, while Roma Gum added a sixth place for the Pony girls in the javelin.

Not to be outdone, the Blue Pony boys had a huge second day of the meet to move from ninth to fourth. Havre's sprints were a huge factor, especially the 4x100 relay team, which won the state title and set a school record with a time of 42,47. The team was composed of Brayden Kimberling, Brisbin Reiter, Michawl Emge and Carson Harris.

Kimberling went on to place second in the 100 meters and third in the 200, while Caleb Tomac placed in the both the 1,600 and 3,200 for the Ponies. Jacob Herring also gave a Havre a fourth in the high hurdles, while 4x400 relay team finished fourth, rounding out a great day on the track for Havre.

While Havre had a strong showing, Corvallis swept the team titles in Class.
