The Havre High softball team is headed to the Eastern A Divisional Tournament this weekend. And, head coach Tony Vigliotti's team is riding high after doing plenty of winning this past weekend in Butte.
The Blue Ponies opened the LaVerne Tournament on Friday with a 17-0 win over Class B Anaconda, as well as a 7-1 win over Class A rival Polson.
On the second day of the tournament, the Ponies toppled Corvallis 10-2 and Frenchtown 4-1 as Havre finished the regular season with a 15-6 record overall. Havre also finished first in the Northeast A, which gives the Blue Ponies a top seed at the Eastern A this weekend.
The Ponies are led by pitcher Elle Verploegen, who finished the season with a 14-3 record in the circle. Catcher Camille Keeley was also one of Havre's top hitters this season, as was veteran Brenna Hanson.
Havre will now compete in the Eastern A Divisional which runs Friday-Saturday in Lewistown. The top four teams from the Eastern A will advance to next weekend's Class A State Tournament in Billings.
