Hill County Park Board members met Monday evening, May 6, to discuss maintenance for Beaver Creek Park.

Jeff Jensen was re-elected as the chairman for the board, and Pam Wilson was elected to be the vice chairman.

The committee is waiting for estimates from Clausen and Son’s and Korb construction to replace the Beaver Lodge. Extra funds are still required to proceed with the project, as well as possible bonding for the Mil Levy. The Friends of Beaver Creek are also looking into funding options.

Cabin inspection dates have were for July 1 to allow ample time for cabin owners to prepare their properties. Updated photos of cabins will be taken for the boards files.

Park Superintendent Chad Edgar estimated repairs to the chapel to cost $16,300 for two feet of damage around the lower perimeter that was damaged during a high water flow event. The board hopes to obtain a grant through the Montana History Foundation called the Historic Preservation Grant.

Another topic of discussion was the Eagles Campground Bridge which began to slowly sag in recent years. Approval from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has been granted and the Bear Paw Bowmen plan to assist in the project. Bridge abutments left over from the Fireman’s Campground will be placed in the creek as part of this project.

Park employee gas mileage was another subject brought up at the meeting. No decision has been made yet, and more research is required to find resolution for possible fuel compensation for everyday or seasonal park workers who travel out to the park for their jobs.

Gary and Leo’s Fresh Foods is currently park selling permits.

The next board meeting will be at the Beaver Lodge at Camp Kiwanis on June 3 at 5:30 p.m.
