The Havre High boys and girls tennis teams have reached the pinnacle of their season. After competing at Glendale and Miles City last weekend, the Ponies are now headed to the postseason, a postseason that starts ion Glendive.
Havre, of head coach Jeff Miller, wrapped up its regular season with dual victories at Glendive last Friday, as well as a strong showing at the Miles City Invitational on Saturday.
The Blue Pony boys got doubles sweeps over the weekend from the duos of Carter Spangler and Max Spangler, as well as Reid Kato and Callen Stoner and Mason Kinsella and Carter Chagnon.
Jackson Headress also scored key wins for Havre at No. 1 singles against Glendive.
The Blue Pony girls also had a successful final weekend of the regular season, as they got wins from Heather Herring, Tyley Hemmer and Lindsey Leinwand in singles against Glendive on Friday, as well a strong showing from Herring on singles on Saturday in Miles City.
Now, Havre will be right back on the road, as the Ponies return to Glendive for the Northeast A Divisional this weekend.
On the boys side, Miles City is the defending champion, but Havrre is taking the deepest of the doubles teams, and the Ponies are ready to take the Cowboys down for the first time in three years. Glendive will also be a strong contender as well.
On the girls side, Miles City is a heavy favorite, while Lewistown has also been very strong this season. But, Havre will look to surprise as veterans Chloe Bricker, as well as Mylee Shennum, Herring and others have been coming on strong as of late.
The top four singles players and top four doubles teams from the Northeast A on both the boys and girls sides will advance to next weekend’s Class A State Tournament in Kalispell.
