Wesley John Fisk, 98, passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home, in Shepherd, Montana, Tuesday, March 5th, 2024.
Wesley was born July 6th, 1925 in Bartlett, North Dakota. Wesley was the youngest of four, he had two brothers and one sister born to John Wesley and Nellie Arella Wright Fisk.
Wesley was married to Joan Dorthy Karna July 31, 1947. They had six children, Barbara J. Pate, Nancy A. Hewitt, Ronald D. Fisk, Lesley G. Clark, David W. Fisk and Gerald (Jerry) D. Fisk. Wesley widowed in 2008 and subsequently married Linda DeCamp, they divorced in 2018. Wesley left behind 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Wesley served as a TEC 5 in the US Army from March 1945 to December 1946. Following his military service Wesley made his living in various trades; including construction, automobile and RV sales and bar ownership. Wes and Jo owned and operated a second-hand store in Havre, Montana, from 1957 to 1985.
In the '80s, Wes and Jo traveled across Alaska and Canada by RV buying and selling second-hand goods. In 1987, looking for a landing pad, they leased The Branding Iron bar in Swan Lake, Montana. In 1990, opportunity called them east and they settled down in Shepherd, MT, purchasing The Red Rooster Bar. "The Rooster" remained in the family until sold in 2018.
Wes loved the desert and spent many of his later years wintering in Arizona and summering in Montana.
Wes was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved to hit the trails in his ATV, it infused him with energy and really kept him going.
Wes is preceded in death by his wife, Joan "Jo" who passed May 7th 2007.
Memorial services will be held this summer.
