The Havre High softball team splits a pair of recent games, as the Ponies fell to Lewistown but beat Glasgow.
On Tuesday, the Ponies dropped a 5-4 decision to rival Lewistown at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field.
Camille Keeley got things started for the Ponies, doubling in center ersi Morse for the game’s first run in the bottom of the first. The Eagles came back with two runs in the next half inning, but Havre tied the game in the third as Rachel Jette knocked in Morse. The Ponies took the lead in the fourth as Bree Hanson hit a solo home run to make it 3-2. Havre allowed the Eagles to score three runs in the sixth inning. Down to their final three outs, the Blue Ponies sent seven batters to the plate and were only able to come up with one run and ended the game with the bases loaded.
Morse had two hits for the Ponies, while Jette had to RBIs. In the circle, Elle Verploegen loss for Havre, though she had nine strikeouts.
Havre did bounce back on Thursday with a 10-0 5-inning win over the Scotties.
The Blue Ponies dominated the game as Brenna Hanson, who drove in four runs on three hits, which included a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Havre ended up scoring seven time in the frame after taking a (1-0) lead in the second inning on Adi Olson’s RBI single. Keeley also had three hits and two RBIs. Havre had a total of 13 hits on the day.
In the circle, Verploegen cruised, throwing a four-hit complete game shutout and striking out 11 Scotties.
Havre hosts Sidney and Glendive at the the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field on Saturday.
