The Salvation Army in Havre makes a plea for donations

Great need in community depleting funds, out of money for month

The Salvation Army in Havre says it is out of money for the month due to great needs in the community, and is asking for help with donations to continue helping people.

“We are seeing many people that are struggling to stay in their homes due to inflation,” Salvation Army Havre Service Center Director Trina Crawford said in a release. “The goal at The Salvation Army-Havre Service Center is to keep people in their homes or to help those who are homeless to get out of homelessness.”

Crawford said that, with the funds for this month exhausted, the Service Center needs monetary donations to continue to help people in the community.

“The Salvation Army-Havre Service Center always helps those that want to help themselves,” she said. “Most of the requests for help are from people who have jobs but cannot make it on what they are making.

“We refer people to community resources that might be able to help them make ends meet,” Crawford added. “We educate people on being good renters and work with them on budgeting before we help, giving a hand up not a handout.”

Crawford said people who would like to help The Salvation Army Havre Service Center make a difference to people in need can go online to https://havre.salvationarmy.org/Havre_service_center to make a donation.

People can can also mail a check to The Salvation Army, PO Box 418, Havre, MT 59501, bring in a donation to the emergency service office at 328 Third St. Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or take the donation to the front counter of the Thrift Store at 322 Third St.

“All donations stay local,” Crawford said in the release. “Thank you for supporting The Salvation Army-Havre Service Center.”
