The Havre High tennis teams not only caught a break in the weather, but the Blue Ponies caught a break in the schedule as well.
Originally, HHS had this weekend off, but, it worked out that the Blue Ponies got to travel to Lewistown for a dual date with the Fergus High Golden Eagles. And the Blue Ponies took advantage of some great weather, as head coach Jeff Miller said his team had a great day.
On the boys side, Havre dominated a short-handed Lewistown squad, as Jackson Headdress won 8-6 at No. 1 singles, while Reid Kato and Callen Stoner and Carter Spangler and Mason Kinsella won big in doubles. Havre also won several exhibition matches as the Blue Ponies officially won the dual 5-2.
The Pony girls didn't fare as well as they ran into an experienced and talented Fergus team. Still, the HHS girls that made the trip got great experience and will be stronger for having took the court, despite the 7-0 defeat to the Eagles.
It was a big day for Havre as well as the Blue Ponies have a huge week upcoming. Havre will travel to Great Falls Tuesday to battle Class AA Great Falls High and CMR. Then, the Ponies will travel to Glendive Friday for the two-day Elks Invitational as the Ponies hit the stretch run of their spring season.
