Press release
Montana Department of Transportation is inviting the public to comment on a proposal to improve half-a-mile of 14th Avenue in Havre.
The project begins at the asphalt/concrete connection south of the intersection with 1st Street and ends near the intersection with 8th Street.
Proposed work includes micro-milling the pavement to remove the ruts and finishing with a seal and cover — chip seal. Pavement markings will be replaced, and all Americans with Disabilities Act ramps will be upgraded.
The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the existing roadway and enhance pedestrian accessibility features in compliance with ADA requirements.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2025 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. Temporary construction permits will likely be required for this project. Landowners may be contacted prior to construction regarding survey and/or temporary permits.
“Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects,” a release said. “MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Great Falls office, PO Box 1359, Great Falls, MT 59403-1359. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10387000.”
The public is encouraged to contact Great Falls District Preconstruction Engineer Jim Combs at 406-788-2773 or Project Design Engineer RJ Snyder at 406-459-5294 with questions or comments about the project.
