Pony thinclads sweep Havre Invite

Make it a perfect week for the Havre High track and field teams.

For the second time this week, the HHS girls and boys swept a meet at the Havre Middle School Track. Under sunny skies Saturday, the Pony girls scored 200 points to win going away, while the HHS boys scored 179.5 points.

Individually, Havre dominated on the girls side. Kaydence Reiter won the 100 meters, while teammates Macy Brandon and Kyanna Jarvis finished second and third, respectively. Macee May finished fifth and Kenna Caplette was sixth. Reiter and Brandon also went first and second in the 200 meters, while Sierra Parker finished sixth.

In the distance races, HHS's Calra Haslem was fifth in the 800 meters, while Ashlyn Ford and Hailey Gingery went 1-2 in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters. Gracie Shandorf also placed fourth in the 3,200 for the Ponies. Kyanna Jarvis also won the 100 hurdles for the Ponies, while Ari Gary was third. Jarvis placed second in the 300 hurdles as well.

In the relays, the Ponies won the 4x100 with May, Brandon, Kynna Jarvis and Reiter leading the way. Brandon, Kyanna and Amaya Jarvis and Ford combined to win the 4x400 for HHS.

In the field, Havre's Roma Gum placed sixth in the shot put. And second in the discus, while Madison Reber was third in the discus. Gum was also second in the javelin, while Britton Elliott was sixth.

Kyanna Jarvis added to her big day with a second place in the high jump, while Gary was second. May also scored a win for the Ponies in the long jump, and she finished second in the triple jump. Havre also got a first in the pole vault, as Taylor Leeds won the event.

Like the girls, the Havre boys rolled at home on Saturday. Michael Emge won the 100 meters, while Brayden Kimberling was second, Brisbin Reiter was third and Carson Harris was fourth. Kimberling added a second in the 200 and Rhett Wertheimer was third in the 200. Caleb Tomac had another huge day for the Ponies, finishing second in the 400 meters, while Shane Patacsil was sixth. Tomac also cruised to a win in the 3,200 meters, while Mason Gregoire won the 1,600 for the Ponies.

The Ponies saw Ciaran Courtnage win the the 110 hurdles and Jacob Herring win the 300 hurdles, while Reiter, Emge, Harris and Kimberling combined to win the 4x100 and Patacsil, Wertheimer, Tomac and Emge teamed up to win the 400 relay.

In the field, Tommy Lewis won the shot put for the Ponies, and Andrew Laroque was fourth. Drew Allen placed third and LaRoque fourth, while Lewis was sixth in the discus. Jacob Herring also finished third in the javelin. 

Havre also got a fourth-place finish from Tre Gary in the high jump, while Teegan Solomon was second and Emge was fifth in the pole vault.

The Blue Ponies return to action this Saturday when they head to the Laurel Invite.
