Havre Daily News staff

Box Elder Schools issued a notice Thursday evening that the schools will be closed today while a foreign substance found in the school is removed and the schools searched for any other possible contamination.

The release just said a foreign substance was found Thursday afternoon and the school will be closed to ensure complete removal of the substance before students and staff return to the facility.

This morning Box Elder Schools Superintendent Jeremy MacDonald said they are working with local law enforcement and public health officials on the matter, but beyond that he has no more information to release at this time.

He said he believes in transparency and hopes to have an update for the community by this afternoon.

“Questions can be sent to Superintendent (Jeremy) MacDonald at [email protected] or by calling 406-352-4195,” the Thursday evening release said.
